HGH Smells Awful
Week two of MONSTER 2.0 opens on chest, back and abs. Three lifts moved. 101.9 kg. HGH is the only compound that smells.
Monday was rest. Week two of MONSTER 2.0 opened Tuesday 15 September on Day 1 — chest, back, abs. Twenty-three working sets, 257 reps, 19,921 kg. Walked to the gym. That was the cardio.
101.9 kg.
Session. Week 2 Day 1, 15 Sep: 23 sets, 257 reps, 19,921 kg.
Scale. 101.9 kg.
Moved. Pec fly, assisted pull-up, lat pulldown. Held: incline press, plate-loaded chest press. Down: straight-arm pulldown.
Abs. Machine crunch is a new line, not a comparison with last week’s cable crunch.
Smell. HGH is the only compound in the stack that smells. Awful, every time I pull it.
The session
Numbers from the stats script. Incline volume is logged at the midpoint of a 6–8 range (7 reps), RIR 1 — same convention as 7 September.
Block after this session: 7 logged, 169 sets, 2,012 reps, 100,707 kg.
What moved
Pec fly: week-1 Day 1 was a cable crossover at 19 kg — different movement, not the comparison.
Assisted pull-up: 4 × 10 with 36 kg assist. Effective load 65.9 kg. Week 1 was 4 × 9 with 41 kg assist, 60.4 kg effective. Less help, one more rep.
Abs switched machines. Week 1 was cable crunch at 79 kg. This session is a machine crunch, 3 × 20 at 108 kg — 6,480 kg of the session total. New line. Don’t read 19,921 kg as a matched jump over week-1 Day 1.
The smell
Every time I pull the HGH to inject, it smells really awful. It’s the only compound in the stack that does. The others are silent.
Multi-dose somatropin pens list metacresol (m-cresol) as a preservative in the diluent. Public labels for Genotropin GoQuick 5.3 mg and 12 mg are the example. Sharp, medicinal. That’s the likely smell — not a reason to switch pens.
